Sexxy dancer Bev real name Beverly Sibanda has urged local dancers to be united and shun the unnecessary beefs to grow the fledgling industry.
The Sexy Angels leader made the remarks soon after her performance on Tuesday at City Sports Bar at the Dancers’ Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) sixth anniversary celebrations. DAZ is regulatory board for all dancers in the country.
“As dancers, we must be united. We must not be jealous of each other so that we can all be successful in this industry,” she said.
It was a night of exceptional dance routines from the star-studded line-up of performers as Wasu and her outfit, Syndicate, Pala Fala, Zoey and her Red Angels, Lambadosa, Fresh Crew and Apama squared up in an exciting show that left the crowd salivating.
Speaking at the event, DAZ president Hapaguti “Hapaz” Mapimhidze said dancers should conduct themselves professionally to earn respect as professionals.
The call came amid reports that a new crop of “extremely immoral” dancers was emerging.
“Dancers, we must behave. Let’s behave so society will respect us as professionals while on the other hand people should treat dancers with respect and discard the mentality of regarding dancing as associated with immoral behaviour,” Hapaz said.
He announced that in three weeks’ time they will be honouring outstanding dancers of the year at an awards ceremony to be held at City Sports Bar.
DAZ was formed in October 2010 as a brainchild of Hapaz, with some of its main aims being to protect both male and female dancers from various abuses and assist them in times of need.
