A memorial service for slain actor Dumi Masilela will be held next Wednesday.
The 29-year-old who starred on eTV’s soapie Rhythm City died on Thursday after he was shot in a suspected hijacking late on Wednesday.
No arrests have been made.
His former colleagues visited the Masilela family home on Friday afternoon to pay their respects.
Rhythm City’s publicist Mpumi Philips said: “I’ve seen a couple of actors from Muvhango also here in support of Simphiwe. We’ll be holding discussions to finalise the details in terms of time.”
Meanwhile, With social media abuzz with fans and colleagues posting their fondest memories of Masilela, the cast of Rhythm City is shattered.
Fellow actor Jamie Bartlett, commonly known for his role as David Genaro, broke down saying Masilela’s death is systemic of a difficult time the country is going through in the fight against crime.
Rhythm City series producer Yula Quinn says Masilela’s death leaves a void.
“He kept us all alive, he would come bouncing into our offices. So we are just distraught and very shocked to hear that this has happened to him.”
Filming on the soapie’s set was suspended for the day following the news.
