Underfire Zanu PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere could be fired by President Robert Mugabe this week amid reports that Kasukuwere wept before his boss last week, reports show.
Zanu PF politburo and central committee meet this week on Wednesday and Friday, NewsDay said.
Various media reports said Kasukuwere who is accused of planning to topple Mugabe, privately met the veteran ruler last week to plead his case.
Yes, he met the President and actually tried to tender his resignation from his party position. The President rejected that outright, leaving the Local Government minister in tears. Kasukuwere was told to clean up his mess. It’s like the President has hung the political commissar out to dry,” NewsDay reported.
“There will be demonstrations in Bindura tomorrow [today]. Already about 200 placards have been printed that will show people are fed up with Kasukuwere. We want the President to act.”
Zanu PF administration secretary Ignatius Chombo confirmed that the party’s politburo and central committee meetings would be focusing on “critical issues pertaining to the party as well as national development will be discussed”.
